Richard Stumpf - CEO / Partner

Richard Stumpf is the founder and CEO of Atlas Music Publishing, a full-service, independent, progressive music publishing company. Established in 2013, the company currently represents writers including Eddie and Alex Van Halen, Brandi Carlile, Warren Haynes, and Dan the Auotomator. Atlas songs have been performed by esteemed artists such as Andrea Bocelli, John Legend, Pearl Jam and Carrie Underwood. In 2019 Richard partnered with premier artist manager, Scooter Braun, providing Atlas writers an unmatched level of access to contemporary music’s biggest stars.

Prior to founding Atlas, Richard was the inaugural President of Imagem Music, US. He grew the roster considerably, which included hip-hop sensations Ludacris and MIA, the legendary Sammy Cahn, Elvis Presley and Rodgers & Hammerstein catalogues, world renowned writer/producer Mark Ronson, multi-platinum artists The Counting Crows and Jimmy Cliff, cutting edge bands The Temper Trap and The Revivalists, and many others.

Before being recruited by Imagem in 2010, Richard was the SVP of Creative Services & Marketing for Cherry Lane Music Publishing (Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Quincy Jones, John Denver, Elvis Presley, Ashford & Simpson). Richard oversaw writer signings, acquisitions and business development strategy, including the implementation of strategic joint ventures (NFL, Electronic Arts, NASCAR). He also oversaw the marketing team, who were responsible for identifying and negotiating song placements for film & television, advertisements, records, and new media outlets.

Richard’s board service over the years includes NMPA, AIMP, A2IM and The Recording Academy, for which he is a voting member and Trustee. He has been an avid lobbyist for NMPA and Recording Academy initiatives and spent many years pushing for the passage of the MMA.

Whether through the funding of scholarships, speaking at schools, or his St. Jude charity music festival, “StumpFest,” Richard is a passionate advocate for children.

Richard received his BS in Marketing from Binghamton University and his MBA in Marketing from Pace University.
